Wings of Empire throws you into an alternate timeline where Rome never fell and instead conquered space. You’re an ex-Centurion turned starfighter pilot aboard the carrier Aquila, caught in the middle of a brewing war between the Roman Empire and Chinese Commonwealth.

The game mixes space combat with story choices that actually affect how things play out. Your character starts as a wounded veteran looking for a new purpose, and the writing does a decent job exploring that angle. The political tension between the two superpowers keeps things interesting.

Combat feels solid and the ship customization has enough depth without being overwhelming. If you’re into space sims with some actual story behind them, this one’s worth checking out. Droid Productions managed to create something that feels fresh despite the familiar setting.
