The game starts you off in that classic vault setup, but the real meat happens when you finally make it topside. The world feels dangerous but not overwhelmingly grim, and there’s a good balance between exploration and character interactions. The writing has personality, with that folksy “howdy pardner” vibe that sets it apart from other post-apocalyptic games that take themselves too seriously.

What works well here is how the game doesn’t rush you into the wasteland. You get time to understand the vault life before making that big decision to leave safety behind.
