Coffee Story throws you into a surreal nightmare where dreams bleed into reality in the worst possible way. The main character wakes up from a weird dream only to find himself slowly turning into a girl he met in that same dreamworld.

To stop the transformation from becoming permanent, he has to pretend to be a new student at school while desperately searching for a cure. The three friends helping him out, Yuri, Kari, and Nanami, all have their own messed up connections to the dream realm. Yuri deals with constant nightmares, Nanami uses dreams to escape her crappy life, and Kari is hiding some seriously dark psychological issues.

If you’re into games like Yume Nikki or enjoyed the trippy weirdness of LSD Dream Emulator, this one hits similar notes with its strange monster-filled dreamscapes and reality-warping mechanics. The forced transformation aspect definitely isn’t for everyone, but the psychological horror elements are genuinely unsettling.
