Caliross, The Shapeshifter’s Legacy puts you in the shoes of a young historian who’s finally leaving her small town to discover what being a shapeshifter really means. The world is way bigger and messier than she expected, and sometimes paying rent means working shifts at sketchy bars instead of studying ancient texts.

The cool thing about this game is how open-ended everything feels. You can focus on the main mystery about shapeshifter heritage, join either the Mage or Adventurer guilds, or just ignore all the politics and do your own thing. Different factions are constantly scheming in the background, and your choices end up helping or hurting them whether you meant to or not.

It’s one of those games where you set your own goals. Want to become a serious scholar? Go for it. Prefer to get mixed up in guild drama? That works too. The freedom to play how you want is what makes it worth checking out.
