So I just wrapped up a session of Ascendant Delusion and honestly, this game scratches an itch I didn’t know I had. You’re basically a rookie Guild explorer venturing into a world that’s been completely wrecked by some massive disaster, but here’s the kicker – you’ve got this inherited ability to mess with reality and people’s minds. The setup feels refreshingly dark compared to the usual hero-saves-everyone formula.

What really hooked me was how the game lets you choose whether to be genuinely helpful or manipulative as hell. Every person you encounter becomes this moral crossroads where you can either solve their problems the hard way or just rewire their brain to make them useful to you. That power feels genuinely corrupting in the best way possible.

The creature encounters definitely keep you on your toes since they’re remnants of whatever catastrophe broke this world. I played the unlocked version so I could experiment with different power combinations without grinding, which honestly made exploring these moral choices way more engaging. The writing doesn’t pull punches about the ethical implications of your abilities either – it’s surprisingly thoughtful for what could’ve been a simple power fantasy. Fair warning though, some dialogue scenes drag on longer than they need to.
