Zombie’s Retreat throws you into what starts as a typical summer camp experience but quickly turns into a zombie apocalypse survival nightmare. Camp Zomi was supposed to be all about hiking trails and lake activities, but now you’re fighting off hordes of undead while trying to keep everyone alive.
The action RPG gameplay mixes zombie slaying with puzzle solving, so you’re not just button mashing through fights. You need to actually think about how to protect the survivors you find scattered around the camp. The story connects to Town of Passion if you’ve played that, which adds some nice continuity between games.
What works well here is how the game balances the horror elements with the camp setting. The whole “evil outbreak with strange circumstances” angle keeps things interesting beyond just your standard zombie fare.
