Just wrapped up my first playthrough of Succubus Station and wow, this indie space opera really caught me off guard. You’re playing as the Matriarch leading a displaced demon clan who’ve been wandering the galaxy for 300 years after losing their homeworld. The premise sounds wild on paper, but the way it blends political intrigue with this desperate struggle for survival actually works really well.

What hooked me was how the story doesn’t shy away from the complexity of your situation. You finally make it back to your ancestral home only to find colonial empires have already carved it up between them. So you’re stuck building this orbital station while dealing with hostile pirates who control the space around your own planet. The writing captures that frustration of being so close to reclaiming what’s yours, yet still having to fight for every inch.

Strategic Choices That Actually Matter

The decision-making feels weighty because you’re constantly balancing clan survival against your ultimate goal of restoration. Do you negotiate with the colonizers or go full aggression against the Pirate Republic? I played the enhanced version which let me explore different diplomatic paths without grinding through resource management, and honestly those moral gray areas kept me invested way longer than expected.
