Imperial Chronicles puts you in the shoes of an exiled prince who finally gets his shot at coming home. But returning to claim your birthright isn’t exactly a walk in the park when everyone with power wants you dead.

The story follows this young prince who’s been stuck in exile since he was a kid. Now he’s got a chance to go back, but the closer he gets to the throne, the more enemies crawl out of the woodwork. Lazy Monkey did a solid job building up the political tension and backstabbing that comes with royal drama.

What makes this one worth checking out is how the danger ramps up as you progress. Every step toward power means more people plotting against you. The game does a good job showing that being royalty is more about survival than luxury.
