Finding Color in the Ashes mixes cozy inn management with fantasy dating sim elements, and honestly it works better than you’d expect. You’re rebuilding a ruined inn while getting to know Lucy, a witch who becomes your main companion throughout the whole experience.

The gameplay splits your time between fixing up the inn, clearing monsters from the area, and developing relationships. Combat uses a turn-based dice system that feels pretty satisfying, especially when you start collecting better weapons and spells. The day cycles through morning, afternoon, evening, and night phases, so you actually have to plan how you spend your time.

It’s definitely more on the relaxing side despite the monster fighting. The pacing is slow and deliberate, which works great if you want something chill to play after work. MooncatcherStudios did a solid job balancing the different gameplay elements without making any of them feel tacked on.
